When part of a garden or plot has been left to grow, brambles and overgrowth can take over quickly. Casey Jones clears overgrown gardens, banks and areas around sheds, stables and outbuildings, so you can see and use the space again.
The before and after photos on this page come from a large bramble clearance around a stable block and field edge, where years of growth were cut back to the ground and cleared.
From overgrown to usable
A clearance is often the first step towards something new, whether that is a lawn, a patio, a vegetable plot or simply getting into a shed again. Once the overgrowth is cut back, you can see the shape of the ground and decide what you want to do with it.
Wildlife and timing
It is an offence to damage or destroy an active bird's nest, so clearances during the main nesting season, roughly March to August, need extra care. Areas are checked before cutting, and where nests are found they are left alone. Late autumn and winter are often the easiest times for large clearances.
Invasive plants
Some invasive plants, such as Japanese knotweed, cannot be cleared like ordinary overgrowth and need specialist treatment. If Casey comes across anything like this, he will tell you rather than disturb it.
